BMA is proud to announce the promotion of Michael Johnson to Chief Administrative Officer, a role that reflects both his leadership and his unwavering commitment to the people and culture that define our organization.
Throughout his time as Director of People & Culture, Mike has helped guide BMA through significant growth while ensuring that our values remained at the center of every decision. His people-first approach has strengthened communication, enhanced employee programs, supported leaders across the organization, and reinforced what it truly means to be part of a 100% employee-owned company.
"I’m most proud of helping BMA grow in a way that keeps people at the center," he said. "As the company has evolved, we’ve had to become more structured and more strategic, but I’ve always believed that growth should not come at the expense of culture."
For Mike, leadership has always been rooted in service. Reflecting on his career journey, from his first role as a sales associate at Nike to leading People & Culture at BMA, he emphasizes that leadership opportunities exist at every stage and in every position.
"The opportunity to serve as Director of People & Culture came with immense responsibility," he shared. "We had a goal of ensuring we didn’t lose our culture on the path to growth and success. Leadership requires both empathy and discipline. You have to listen well, understand what people need, and create an environment where they can be successful and, on occasion, make mistakes."
That philosophy will continue to guide him as he steps into his new role. As Chief Administrative Officer, Mike is focused on strengthening the connection between BMA’s people, operations, and long-term growth strategy.
"I’m excited to continue on the path we’ve established, but on a bigger scale," he said. "As the company continues to evolve, one of my priorities is helping build the systems, communication, and structure that allow our teams to work more effectively while preserving the culture that makes BMA special."
He is particularly passionate about developing future leaders and helping employees deepen their understanding of employee ownership.
"Being a 100% employee-owned company gives us a unique opportunity to help employees understand how their work contributes to the success of the organization, and I want to continue building that connection across the company."
As BMA continues to grow, Mike believes maintaining a people-first culture will require even greater intentionality.
"In a smaller organization, culture can often be carried through personal relationships and informal communication," he explained. "As we expand, we have to make sure that same care, connection, and responsiveness are supported by stronger systems, clearer communication, and consistent leadership practices."
When reflecting on BMA’s culture, Mike points to the opportunities and support he has found throughout his journey with the company.
"I've worked for several large and successful companies over the years, but none have offered me the culture, growth, family, and opportunity that BMA has," he said. "We trust our people to give their best to the company while also giving their best to their families. Instead of focusing on work-life balance, we simply view it as life."
His perspective as a father to Chandler and Grayson has shaped both his professional and personal journey. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his kids, traveling, sailing, attending live music events, and taking opportunities to slow down and stay grounded.

Looking ahead, he remains grateful for the employees and leaders who have supported him throughout his career at BMA.
"BMA’s culture is built by its people, and I have been fortunate to work alongside so many individuals who care deeply about the company, the mission, and one another," he shared. "My message would simply be thank you. Thank you for being part of the journey, for helping make BMA what it is, and for continuing to contribute to where we are headed next!"
